Concept Art – Light Enemy Fighter
May 7th
For this update we have some new concept art for you. This is a lightly armored yet nimble little fighter, often put on the front lines as a first line of defense against incoming intruders. These scamps probably won’t be much of a threat to you though. Pilots in these ships work best in groups, often supporting better equipped units.
New Character Portraits for the Radio
Feb 16th
There’s an accompanying story for this update ladies and gentlemen. About a week or two ago Dallas, Texas rather unusually iced over. The ice isn’t as dangerous as the people that don’t know how to drive on the ice (but don’t tell them that), so I decided to kick back and stay at home. I was trapped in my house with quite literally nowhere to go, so with only electricity and time to burn I buckled down chipped away at the massive character art checklist on my desk. I can’t say with certainty if any of these designs are final, but I’m a little fond of how these four turned out. Admittedly I need to do a few touch ups here and there, and the the display/scanline effect I’m iffy on, but hey, this is the general style we’re aiming for.
Our characters in the game are quite the vocal bunch and whenever they start talking with one another on the radio they’ll have a little character pic appear on the screen. In an unobtrusive fashion, of course.
New Colony Concept Art
Oct 25th
In HEAVEN VARIANT, much of the story revolves around the drama that ensues after humanity begins colonizing space near Earth’s orbit. This piece of concept art is the inside of a colony. Its feels overpopulated and grimy as moisture accumulates around the never ending urban skyline. It certainly isn’t a sci-fi utopia, but that’s okay! This image may be used directly in the creation of a skybox background texture, but we still need to see how it looks in-game and if it is even matches the game’s overall style.
