About the Album
Heaven Variant is an unreleased indie shoot ’em up video game that had a wealth of music left behind. While the game never finished development the album now functions as a tribute to the “shmup” scene of yesteryear, fully embracing the classic shoot ’em up sound popular from the 1990s. The music combines many genres including rock, metal, funk, orchestral, electronica, chiptune, and pop blending these styles into an unapologetic retro homage to the golden age of Japanese shoot ’em ups.
The album was created by Jason Koohi.
